What do you do with all that leftover Halloween candy? Better yet, what do you do with all that candy the kids brought home? Rather than be the person who contributes the obvious Halloween candy leftovers (not that there’s anything wrong with that) to the next party, soccer game or troop gathering, bake up these quick and yummy cookies…no one will be any wiser and you will look like a sweet genius. Muwahahahahahaa!
My mom was the inspiration behind these soft and chewy maple nut cookies. Growing up, I remember she’d treat herself every once in a while with a small bag of Brach’s maple nut goodies (and a celebrity gossip magazine). Remember these?
You can still sometimes find them on the candy aisle – but my grocery store still has an old school Brach’s bin complete with flavored caramels, neopolitan coconut chews, and cinnamon bears (my personal favorite!).
This is the recipe where it all begins. As you may have read on my About Me page, it’s your standard soft cookie or “pudding” cookie as it uses instant pudding mix in the batter. While the recipe isn’t anything new or particularly revolutionary, I’ve tweaked it a little bit over the years to suit my own taste. What is new and different is that through this blog, I will test and share hundreds of different flavor variations I have developed – all from this one simple recipe.
